Currywurst – the iconic sausage from Berlin
This is the footlong version of our second best-selling sausage at events and festivals which we regularly attend. Adults and most of the children love them. Ex-military personnel, particularly those that have been stationed in Berlin many decades ago, frequently enquire about Currywurst.
Similar to all our other sausages, the Currywurst is already pre-cooked and will be sent frozen in high quality, ice pack-cooled delivery parcels. Just thaw them slowly in the fridge and cook on medium heat until nicely brown, with a core temperature of over 72°C. Please also refer to our special section “Sausages perfectly grilled”.
Please make sure you have read and understood our Shipping Terms!
You can also eat this sausage as a ‘Bockwurst’ by heating it in hot water until a core temperature of 72°C has been reached. But watch out; if you boil the sausage, it will burst and all the taste will be gone! If prepared as directed, you can enjoy the Bockwurst simply by adding some mustard or you can have it as a hot dog in a breadroll, with different toppings of your likings.
If this one is too big for you, you find the regular version here:

What Chef Hans says about the Bockwurst / Currywurst:
Just look at the size of this sausage! Will my little boy finish it?
A sausage served with ketchup and curry powder? Sounds strange? But it tastes damn delicious. Having grown up in Berlin, as a child I had Currywurst at least once a week. The slightly smoky taste of the Bockwurst and the combination of ketchup and curry powder is not only in Berlin the ultimate German fast food.
Cut the sausage in bite-size pieces, smother it generously with ketchup and curry powder – or use our ready-made curry-ketchup – and ready is one of the most iconic German sausage dishes!
Just make sure not to overcook the Currywurst. Nicely brown and steaming hot (but not black and dry), it will taste delicious.
Prepared in the water bath, I like the Bockwurst best as a hotdog with ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard, topped with a few slices of pickled gherkins and crispy fried onions.
